About Portable Headphone Amps

What is a portable headphone amplifier?

A portable headphone amp (short for amplifier) is a small device that you connect between your portable music player (e.g. Ipod, Walkman, etc) and your headphones. Most portable music players contain rather weak amplification meaning that music sounds weak, lacking in bass and is distorted when you turn the volume up.

With a portable headphone amp, it contains specialised electronics that amplify the sound from your music player. The sound is then delivered to your headphones much more crisply, with more bass and with less distortion.
